  • the big question usually begins with an action word like How or In what way....
  • sub-questions

 

Research rationale/background 

  • identify the purpose for this research - concentrate on the why of the project.  

 

Key readings

  •  readings that have informed the research proposal; at this stage it need only be a partial literature review  - key areas  you are reading in.

 

Research methodology

  • research approach (qualitative, quantitative, mixed method)
  • research sample (profile of particpants eg number, experience, qualifications, age groups)
  • data collection methods
  • data analysis methods
  • validity and reliability checks (i.e. how will you ensure that your data is valid and reliable?)

 

Reporting

  • How will you report your findings? How long might this document be (need to consider what you want to do with the product - publish in journal, use as presentation etc.) ?

 

Key project activities with timeline 

  • this is a 'to do' list with timeline, e.g. send out permission letters; have inital meeting with participants to outline project etc.

 

Ethical considerations

  • time involved for participants
  • anonimity considerations (surveys, reporting etc)
  • permissions (to participate, interview, take photos, video)

  • costs involved (travel, stationery, data help)
