Hi CAR TL members. My name is Robyn Dorney and I am the T/L at Merriwa Central School, a split site school with a k-6 and a 7-12 library. I am in the scondary library 8.30 - 11, then go to Primary until 1pm, then back to the Secondary library from 1.20 - 3.30.
I used to teach all classes in the Primary until our numbers rose and we got a 6th teacher and as there are not 6 days in the school week, someone else had to take kinder. Each class has a hour a week in the library. I co operatively plan and teach in the secondary, especially 9/10 science who cover two research topics a term on a two year rotation.
I have not yet decided where to aim my project as there are a million and one decisions, the first one being Primary???or Secondary???
Have enjoyed reading everyones entries

Well here we are post ASLA Conference and wasn't it fabulous!
As a result of the conference, and expecially after the Sunday session with Kirsty, Di and Linda on Action Research, the fog cleared and I could see a way of actually applying the principles of Action Research to our particular school situation.
Thank you all for being so patient and listening to the long and laboured delivery- such angst!
The first thing I had to do was to collect data to try to work out where people were at in terms of understanding the what and why of our action research project ( imposed as a result of a school review).
To my great surprise, staff were only too happy to participate and so I gather and collated the data, presented it at a staff meeting and as a result of that we now have action.

Many thanks Di for the use of your Powerpoint. It is fabulous!I delivered it to the k-12 staff on our Staff Development Day on Monday and there was lots of discussion and now people are feeling a lot more comfortable with the "messy " and non linear nature of A.R.
Yesterday, when our criticla friend did not show for our staff meeting, the 7-12 teachers used that time in the library together to work on and actually complete assessment tasks ( new format etc ). As a result, there is generally a reduced level of angst and a greater level of understanding. For now.
Our messy action continues
